CORVETTE GAZETTE – SEPTEMBER 2019

Central Oklahoma Corvette Club

From the President

We are nearing the end of the year – another year is about to fly by, and it has been another great year for the COCC.  We have about 325 members in the club – I look at that and think back to when the club started in 2001 with about 50 members and I’m proud of everything this club has done.  I am glad we have so many people that want to be part of the Central Oklahoma Corvette Club.  I hope we give all the members an avenue to share our common passion for all things Corvette.  I thank each and every member of the COCC for making this club what it is.

Although the calendar year end is nearing, we still have a lot of events coming up – we have a lot of car shows (see below for details), we have our annual Cajun Boil, and we have our annual Christmas Party.  And we might even have some events we don’t even know about yet!

We also have our first ever COCC calendar that will be available for purchase later this year.  Thank You to Hugh Martin for bringing the idea to the club and providing us a photographer to do the photos for the calendar.  And Thank You to the 24 members that were picked and agreed to have their Corvettes photographed – I have seen most of the photos done to date and they look great.

The NCM National Caravan stopped in OKC on its way to Bowling Green.  We had about 50 Corvettes in the group in OKC and it grew to about 600 Corvettes in Cape Girardeau, MO.  A huge THANK YOU goes out to Ike and Hazel Dodrill (with help from Tuna and Susan Dobbins) for heading up the NCM caravan for our club and Oklahoma.  It took countless hours and a lot of hard work, but from everything I heard it was a great success.

MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS

It is membership renewal season and I hope everybody wants to sign up for another year in COCC.  We will be sending out renewal information soon so watch your e-mail.

COCC ROUND UP 2020

I know it is September 2019, but it is already time to start planning for next year’s COCC Corvette Round Up.  Jay Hardesty has graciously volunteered to chair the 2020 show.  Please consider signing up to head a committee or volunteer to help with the many tasks needed to make our annual Corvette show another huge success.

ANNUAL ELECTIONS

We will have our annual officer and board member elections at the November 2019 club meeting.  We will need a nominating committee to be named at the September 17th club meeting, so please consider heading up or being part of the nominating committee.  The nominating committee will present a ballot of candidates at the October 2019 meeting – all positions are open for nominations each year.  If you would like to be part of the board or run for one of the officer positions, please ask for your name to be placed on the ballot.  We welcome everybody’s input so please place your name on the ballot if you would like to be part of the group that helps direct this great club’s activities.

Check our calendar for a lot of the upcoming events and pick the ones you like.  Our goal is to have a variety of events so everybody can find something that interests them.  You can come to all of them or just a few.  It doesn’t matter because we want this club to be what you want it to be – our goal is for everybody to have fun doing what they like to do.

Remember, you can always keep up with the club, our activities, photos, etc. via our website and Facebook group – here are the links.
